Fish Fry

We would like to take this time to inform you that on April 5^th 2008, we will be having our annual fish fry. We will be holding this event in our New Fire Hall located at 163 W. Vaughan St, across from City Hall. Come by and see us. Everyone is welcome. We will have dining arrangements inside for those that choose to stay and visit as well as a take out line for those who have other plans or maybe someone that cannot be with us

Most of you do not know the statistics of our call volumes. In 2006 we had 319 calls, in 2007 we had 480 calls and currently in 2008 we already have had 80 calls. We did have an extremely high call volume in our area last year, however you can see it keeps growing at a fast pace. We have already seen a problem with calls this year by being under extreme drought conditions. We hope that the citizens of our fire district do help in the protection of fires. If you see smoke or smell smoke that is not common in your area or around your house, please call 911 and have us check it out. It may just save your or your neighbors property.

At this time we must rely upon our citizens and supporters within our fire district for funding through donations to our department. We hope this may be changed in the May 10^th 2008 election by a YES vote for a Bertram Fire ESD and Bertram EMS ESD to cover our area. The costs of financing the department and specialized equipment is getting to great for us to keep covering by fish fry’s or mail outs. If we are able to get the ESD’s passed the funding that comes in will stay in the Bertram Fire District and not go anywhere else. And at that time the mail outs will not be necessary. Just for your information a five-member board that over sees the funds in our fire district governs the funds that are acquired. We will continue sending you a letter notifying you of our annual fish fry.

You have contributed greatly in the past and for those of you that cannot attend our Fish Fry Fund Raiser and wish to contribute to our needs we have enclosed an envelope for your contributions.

Also keep in mind all assistance or money donated to our department can be deducted from your income taxes. We are registered with the Federal Government and do have a Federal Tax Number for your assistance or need if required. Just call or write to the department for the number if you need or require this information.
